Alvord at Lindsay set for Friday night, with a live listing from a Sudbury outlet

Alvord's varsity football team was scheduled to play at Lindsay at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, according to calendars posted by both school districts. A live-coverage listing for that game carried the name of Northern Ontario Business, a publication that gives a Sudbury, Ontario, address and describes its beat as Northern Ontario business news.

The Lindsay ISD event page blocked the varsity game against Alvord from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Alvord ISD's 2026 master football schedule shows the same date and the same kickoff, with the district's standard caution that schedules can change. Neither district record carries a score. No result or live update was confirmed against a separate source of record, so the item stands as a coverage listing and nothing more.

Both programs belong to Texas school districts. Lindsay ISD lists its address at 495 West 6th St. in Lindsay, which puts the host campus in Cooke County, and Alvord ISD lists 185 Mosley Lane. The Census Bureau estimated the county's population at about 44,500 as of July 1, 2025, roughly 7 percent above its 2020 base.

Friday's meeting counted in neither school's district race. By the 2024-26 cycle they were already separated by division, Alvord in Division I District 6 and Lindsay in Division II District 8. The conference itself narrowed at the top for the current cycle, with UIL's historical data showing the 2A enrollment ceiling moving from 253 students down to 245, a statewide reclassification change that shifts where small schools land.

The date sat early in the season. UIL's 2026 football calendar marks Sept. 3, 4 and 5 as Week Two playing dates, matching what both districts posted. Schools have 11 weeks to fit in as many as 10 games before district standings are certified Nov. 7.
