Collinsville beats Lindsay 38–7, reversing last season's playoff result
The Pirates handed the Knights a loss in Lindsay's district opener on Oct. 9, less than a year after Lindsay won the teams' playoff meeting, according to MaxPreps and Lindsay ISD.
The Collinsville Pirates beat the Lindsay Knights 38–7 on Friday, Oct. 9. The loss came in Lindsay's district opener, less than a year after the Knights won the teams' playoff meeting. The final score is posted on MaxPreps, and Lindsay ISD identified the game as the first of its district schedule.
Lindsay ISD's events calendar listed the varsity game as a home game in Lindsay. The University Interscholastic League uses MaxPreps to collect scores and run its playoff brackets, and UIL requires every playoff team to keep a complete season record on the site.
Last November's meeting went the other way. MaxPreps shows Lindsay winning 29–23 on Nov. 28, 2025. Lindsay ISD's calendar had scheduled that playoff game for the afternoon in Springtown.

Oct. 9, 2026: district opener in Lindsay

Collinsville coach Garrett Patterson did not describe the rematch as a chance to get even. Before the game, Patterson told the Whitesboro News-Record that his players had no payback motive and were focused on getting better every time they played.
Friday's result counts toward a playoff berth. UIL advances the top four teams from each Class 2A Division II district. Under the 2026–28 alignment, Lindsay and Collinsville play in District 9 with Celeste, Cumby, Era and Quinlan Boles. That leaves two of the six schools without a postseason spot.
The Pirates and Knights also shared a district under the previous alignment. For the 2024–26 cycle, UIL placed both schools in Class 2A Division II District 8 with Chico, Era, Muenster and Santo. Of those four, only Era is with them in District 9. Muenster and Chico are now assigned to Class 2A Division I District 6, along with Alvord, Nocona, Olney and Tioga.
Muenster went to Division I as the reigning Class 2A Division II state champion. UIL's archives show Muenster won the 2025 title game against Shiner by a shutout. Its official season record lists regular-season wins over Lindsay and Collinsville by the same score, plus a second win over Lindsay in the playoffs.
Collinsville and Lindsay are close in size. UIL's enrollment figures for the current cycle show Collinsville with about 20 more students than Lindsay.
