Grayson Democrats offer free admission option for Sept. 14 rally

Students and anyone needing a free ticket can attend a candidate rally advertised for Sept. 14 without paying admission, according to the Grayson County Democratic Party. The party’s events page lists the regular ticket price as $10.

The searchable announcement does not establish that the gathering is scheduled for 2026 in Sherman or confirm which federal and state candidates will appear. A reservation at Lucy Kidd-Key Auditorium also remains unverified: Sherman’s municipal page describes the facility but does not document a booking for this rally.

Jason Pearce’s congressional campaign is documented separately. The Federal Election Commission identifies him as a Democrat seeking Texas’s 4th Congressional District seat. His attendance at the rally is not established by those records.

Pearce’s statement of candidacy, filed in October 2025, names Jason Pearce for Congress as his principal campaign committee for the following year’s election.

Certified returns from the last presidential election show that Democrats received substantially smaller vote shares than Republicans in both Grayson and neighboring Cooke County. Donald Trump’s share was larger in Cooke, while Kamala Harris’ was smaller, according to the counties’ official reports.

Grayson’s certified congressional returns likewise put Republican Pat Fallon ahead of Democrat Simon Cardell. Those results describe voting within the county, rather than the congressional district as a whole.

The county Democratic Party’s 2025 strategic plan sought additional volunteers and donors, along with election victories the following year. These were goals recorded in the plan; the document does not establish that the party achieved them.

The party also reported an earlier public gathering in Sherman. Its account of the July 2025 John Lewis rally placed attendance above a hundred and connected the event to the nationwide Good Trouble Lives On day of action. That attendance figure came from organizers.

State historical turnout records show that participation among registered Texas voters was lower in the 2022 gubernatorial election than in the 2024 presidential election. The comparison describes those elections and does not predict participation this year.
