Three hooded towels, three kids, three names stitched in three different thread colors. Rachel at Strait Stitchin' made them, and at $25 each we think that is a fair price for something this custom.
We've bought from Rachel before. The first order was several years ago, it went well, and this month we went back for hooded towels for the kids. We paid the regular price, and this is not a paid post. We just like how she works.
Each towel is built to the kid it's for. You pick the towel color, the thread color for the name, and the character that goes on the hood. Ours came out as a polka-dot triceratops on hot pink, a green dinosaur floating in a space helmet on dark blue, and a navy one in a helmet on yellow, each with the child's name embroidered underneath. The appliqué is clean and the stitching is dense. It reads as a towel made for that one kid, not a stock towel with a name added at the end.

The ordering is the part we'd point a friend to. We order online, and when the towels are done we pick them up from Rachel's front porch. No back-and-forth over meeting times, no waiting around. It is about as low-friction as buying from a local maker gets.
At this price they work as birthday gifts, baby-shower gifts or something for a new baby, and they are the kind of thing a kid actually uses.
