Requirements

PHA collects information on family income, assets, and family composition, verified with local agencies, employer, and bank. Applicants must promptly notify the authority of changes to contact info, income, or household composition or risk removal from the waiting list.

Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waitlist is open until further notice for Cooke County. Selected applicants are placed on the waiting list by date/time of application receipt, by order of preferences. The Section 8 New Construction Program waitlist is closed. 421 vouchers total, currently serving 261 households.
Eligibility
US citizens and specified categories of non-citizens with eligible immigration status. Family's income generally may not exceed 50% of the median income for Cooke County. By law, 75% of vouchers must go to applicants with incomes at or below 30% of area median income. Preferences given to local residents, working individuals, elderly persons, and domestic violence victims. Serves Cooke County residents.
