Point Energetics of shao yin

The Heart belongs to the emanation heng and is related to the direction of South and the season of Summer. It has a connection to Heaven, houses the shen and promises to serve the principles of Heaven, which are unity and oneness of all existence. The connection to and experience of undivided oneness deep within ourselves gives us the consciousness and clarity of mind and emotions to be in the world of duality with openness, inner strength, tranquillity and non-interference. We discover and walk the path laid out in front of us, a journey filled with bliss and pain, challenges, hardships and diversions and through this journey we can gain an understanding of life and the nature of the self. The Kidneys belong to the emanation zhen and are related to the direction of the North and the season of Winter, where a certain essence is hidden deep within the Earth. This essence is our authentic qi, a qi that is firm and steadfast, true and pure, uncompromised and unconditioned and it constitutes the foundation of our existence, creativity and life purpose. Zhi, the willpower of the Kidneys, is an expression of this. The strength and connection to this very essence gives us stamina and perseverance to pursue long-term goals, not dogmatically and forcefully, but with uprightness and wisdom that comes with walking our path with presence, insight and reflection. Together, the Heart and the Kidneys form the Division of shao yin. The Heart and the Kidneys maintain the harmony between the two opposing forces of Fire and Water and give stability to our inner vertical axis through which life can express itself.
