ICE holds keep climbing in Cooke County: 10 more since late October

Lindsay police booked five people on ICE holds in 36 minutes on Oct. 30. Muenster police booked five more on Nov. 1 and 2. Each lists no other charge.

Ten more people have been booked into the Cooke County jail on ICE holds since we first reported the jump on Oct. 28. Each of the 10 lists the ICE hold as the only charge.

That brings the count since Oct. 1 to 24, according to the jail roster through Nov. 2, 2026. Before October, the most in any month in our records was five.

Lindsay police book five in 36 minutes

Lindsay police booked five people on ICE holds early on Friday, Oct. 30, between 12:37 and 1:13 a.m. The roster lists no other charge for any of them.

The Lindsay Police Department signed a 287(g) "Task Force Model" agreement with ICE on May 14, 2026, according to ICE's list of participating agencies. Its only earlier ICE hold this fall, on Oct. 2, came with a drug charge and a license charge.

Muenster keeps booking

Muenster police booked three people on ICE holds on the evening of Sunday, Nov. 1, and two more at 10:15 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 2. Muenster has now booked 13 people on ICE holds since Oct. 19, each with the ICE hold as the only charge. The department signed its own Task Force agreement with ICE on Oct. 6.

Of the 24 bookings, 18 list the ICE hold as the only charge. All 18 came from the two departments with Task Force agreements. The six from Gainesville, Valley View and Lindsay's Oct. 2 booking each came with a state charge, such as driving while intoxicated or assault.

On Nov. 2, the roster listed eight of the 24 as still in the jail.

No new agreements

ICE's list of participating agencies still shows the same three Cooke County agencies: the Sheriff's Office (Warrant Service Officer model, July 24, 2025), Lindsay police (Task Force, May 14, 2026) and Muenster police (Task Force, Oct. 6, 2026). ICE still lists the Muenster agreement text as pending. The Gainesville Police Department is not on the list.

What we do not know

The roster does not say where or why these people were stopped, or whether the five Lindsay bookings came from one stop. We will update this story if either department or city releases more information.
