Gainesville schedules free Country Night at Farmers Market

Gainesville’s first GTX Country Night will give Cooke County residents a free evening of music, dancing and shopping at the Farmers Market on Sept. 26, 2026, according to the city’s event announcement. For shoppers, Gainesville’s general market policy sets a requirement for the goods vendors offer: sellers must grow, raise or make the products themselves. The rules prohibit reselling purchased merchandise, including products obtained through distributors. Although the city describes Country Night as a first, its calendar documents other evening programs at the market. Plans to accommodate performances at the Farmers Market date to the venue’s earlier improvements. According to April 2018 City Council minutes, council awarded Schmoldt Construction a roughly $2 million improvement contract after the company submitted the lowest of three bids. Council also addressed businesses surrounding the market later that year. November meeting minutes record approval of an economic-development budget amendment providing money for improvements to those businesses. The city’s calendar shows that free evening entertainment followed at the venue. In July 2019, Gainesville advertised a screening of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory at what the announcement described as the new Farmers Market. Elsewhere in North Texas, Denton Community Market describes a similar combination of producer sales and entertainment. Its website lists farms and artists alongside live music, children’s activities and food trucks, and identifies the market as producer-only.
