GOP lists Trump for Durant rally before Texas voter registration deadline

An appearance by President Donald Trump in Durant, Oklahoma, is on the GOP’s schedule for Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, four days before Cooke County residents face the voter registration deadline for November’s election. The timing is established by the party’s rally announcement and the Texas secretary of state’s election calendar.

The Choctaw Event Center will host the midterm rally, according to the GOP announcement. Its registration page provides the following arrangements for people planning to attend:

Trump finished roughly 13,700 votes ahead of Kamala Harris in Cooke County’s last presidential election, according to the county’s official November 2024 results.

Earlier that year, Trump also defeated Nikki Haley in the county’s Republican presidential primary, the official March returns show.

For residents preparing to vote this fall, the Texas secretary of state sets Oct. 5 as the registration cutoff for the Nov. 3 general election. The state calendar allows in-person early voting from Oct. 19 through Oct. 30.

Recent Texas election records show a smaller share of registered voters participated in the 2022 gubernatorial election than in the 2024 presidential election. That comparison comes from the secretary of state’s historical turnout figures.

Nationally, participation in the last midterm was relatively high compared with other nonpresidential elections since 2000, according to the Census Bureau. Its estimates placed 2022 turnout second among those elections. The bureau also found that voting before Election Day accounted for a larger share of ballots in 2022 than in 2018.

The Durant signup page identifies Trump 47 Committee, Inc. in its payment disclosure. Federal Election Commission records classify the organization as a joint fundraising committee.

The GOP’s announced schedule puts Trump in Mobile, Alabama, the following evening for another midterm rally at the Mitchell Center, according to its Mobile event listing.

Trump’s earlier Oklahoma campaign appearances include a Tulsa rally in June 2020. The University of Virginia’s Miller Center preserves that speech and identifies the Trump/Pence campaign as the source.
