Grayson County commissioners will meet at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5. That is a day earlier than their usual Tuesday session. The posted agenda includes a proposal to renew an agreement under which Cooke County would house and care for Grayson County inmates as needed.
The court will also take up the notice for the Nov. 3 general election. A grant agreement for apron improvements at the airport is on the agenda as well.
The session will be held in the Commissioners Courtroom. Anyone who wants to speak must fill out a Request to Speak Card and give it to the clerk before court convenes. Under the rules printed on the agenda, each speaker gets three minutes on listed items.
Grayson's court is made up of the county judge and four commissioners. It normally meets every Tuesday at 10 a.m., according to the county's website. The county's meeting calendar shows the Monday date as a one-time change. Tuesday sessions appear again on Oct. 13, Oct. 20 and Oct. 27.
The date change first appeared as item 9.6 on the court's Sept. 29 agenda. That item proposed holding the Oct. 6 meeting on Oct. 5 instead. The public records reviewed for this report do not show a vote on the item. The reason for the change could not be independently verified from those records.
The court has moved a meeting to a Monday before. Minutes from Feb. 11, 2025, record Judge Bruce Dawsey announcing a session for Monday, Feb. 17. According to those minutes, Commissioners Josh Marr and Lindsay Wright had training.
State law sets how many members must be present. Under Section 81.006 of the Texas Local Government Code, three of the five members make a quorum for ordinary county business. A vote to levy a county tax needs four members present and three votes in favor.

The state's rules for meeting notices changed last year. According to the Texas attorney general's office, House Bill 1522 took effect Sept. 1, 2025. The law generally requires notice of a public meeting at least three business days ahead. The old rule required 72 hours.
Cooke County's commissioners meet less often than Grayson's. Cooke's adopted rules set regular sessions on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Fannin County also moved away from a weekly schedule last fall. Its official meeting archive shows weekly meetings in September 2025. That October, the county changed to a meeting every two weeks, with regular sessions on Oct. 14 and Oct. 28.
