The station's coverage extends to mobile. The KTEN News app, listed on Apple's App Store under developer KTEN Television, describes itself as carrying Texoma news, weather and sports, and says it offers live video during severe weather, according to the listing. The app's published version history references added detail for severe-weather alerts, a daily forecast module, and interactive radar and maps within the app.
For homes and roads in Cooke County, the formal weather record does not originate with a television station. The Fort Worth/Dallas forecast office issues the area's official forecasts along with watches, warnings and advisories, local radar links, hazardous-weather outlooks and the text of alert products, according to that office's public page.
The Weather Service describes NOAA Weather Radio as the official 24-hour federal channel for warnings, watches, forecasts and other hazard information, per its NOAA Weather Radio page. The agency also explains that the Specific Area Message Encoding and Emergency Alert System messages it sends are organized by county, and that broadcasters use those county-based alerts to interrupt regular programming when a vital warning is issued.
Under that design, Cooke County warnings are issued county by county through the federal alert system, according to the Weather Service, while KTEN organizes its page around its Texoma coverage area and keys the forecast to Denison, per the station's site. A reader following the station's forecast would still rely on a Cooke County warning issued through the federal system to learn when conditions reach an emergency at home.
