The Toadies played a free Hot Summer Nights concert at Lucy Kidd-Key Park in Sherman on Thursday, July 9, the next-to-last show of the series' 32nd season before Grupo Bryndis headlines the July 16 finale, according to the event's official account and its schedule at Sherman Arts.
The official Hot Summer Nights account billed the Toadies date as a free show on the Gazebo Stage at Lucy Kidd-Key Park in a post the night before the concert. After the set, the same account thanked the city and the band, writing that Sherman 'absolutely rocked it' on what it called 'a hot Texas night.' The Sherman Arts schedule lists the series as Season 32 and places the July 9 date immediately before the July 16 closer.
Grupo Bryndis is booked to headline that finale, the account announced, with Los Morros set to open at 7 p.m. The July 16 show ends the season's final week.
Hot Summer Nights has run in Sherman for years and has long been linked to the city's tourism programs. Sherman City Council minutes from 2012 recorded that the event was then in its 18th year, a count consistent with a 32nd season in 2026 if the concerts continued each summer. Those minutes also noted discussion of increased city spending on the event and reduced private-sector sponsorship, tied to the city's hotel and motel tax.
By 2015, city budget minutes reported that officials planned to raise the event's budget from $12,000 to $18,000, and that its deficits in recent years had ranged from $23,000 to $28,000. The next year, Sherman reestablished its Main Street program and joined it with the city's Tourism Department because the two shared goals, according to the city. The city says the combined department's manager promotes Sherman activities, including events, for residents and visitors.

Summer concert programs run elsewhere in the area. Denison holds a free downtown series, Music on Main, on Friday nights in June and July, with vendors opening at 6 p.m. and music at 7:30 p.m., according to the City of Denison. In Gainesville, the Summer Sounds series takes place at the Gainesville Farmers Market, where the city calendar lists a July 31 finale featuring Uncle Lucius with Maddie Rose. That date falls about two weeks after Sherman's season ends. The Gainesville City Council approved alcohol sales at the market during the series on a 7-0 vote, according to city records.
