Shadowcats fall 8-2 at Acadiana for third straight loss

YOUNGSVILLE, La. — The Sherman Shadowcats lost 8-2 to the Acadiana Cane Cutters here on July 25, and the Texas Collegiate League's official standings listed Sherman with a three-game losing streak once the result was posted. The league's statistics site records the game as Sherman Shadowcats at Acadiana Cane Cutters and gives the final as 8-2.

Ryan Sessions was credited with two hits in four at-bats, one walk and one run scored for Sherman. Counting the walk, he reached base three times. The final score and Sessions' batting line both appear in the league's July 25 box score for the game.

The streak figure comes from the league's overall standings page, where the TCL posts each club's record alongside its current run of wins or losses. Sherman's entry there showed three consecutive defeats, the July 25 game included.

Acadiana played at home. The Cane Cutters' contact page lists Fabacher Field, at 221 La Neuville Road in Youngsville, as the club's playing field and as the address of its front office. Acadiana's published team history says the organization became the primary tenant of Fabacher Field, inside Southside Regional Park, in 2010, before its first Texas Collegiate League season.

Sherman's time in the league is much shorter. The Shadowcats' website says the club joined the Texas Collegiate League in 2026, while a separate page on the same site dates the founding of the organization to 2023. Both years come from the team itself, and the two figures sit on different pages of the site. The trip to Youngsville fell during that first league season.

The two clubs play at the summer collegiate level rather than in professional baseball. A league explainer published by the Cane Cutters says TCL teams fill their rosters with college players who still have eligibility remaining, which is what separates a game like this one from affiliated minor league baseball.

Neither the box score nor the standings page includes any comment from the two clubs about the run of losses, and neither assigns a cause to the result.
