Shadowcats take 10-inning win at Baton Rouge, 6-4

Zach Fjelstad doubled home the go-ahead run in the 10th and finished 3-for-5, according to the Texas Collegiate League box score, as Sherman beat Baton Rouge on July 18.

The Sherman Shadowcats scored twice in the 10th inning and beat Baton Rouge 6-4 on July 18 at Pete Goldsby Field in Baton Rouge, according to the Texas Collegiate League box score for the game. The win came on the road against a club Sherman had already faced twice at home this season.

Zach Fjelstad drove in and scored the runs that settled the game, the box score shows. With John Moya on base in the 10th, Fjelstad doubled him home to put Sherman in front. Fjelstad then scored on a sacrifice fly by Cole Carnes.

Fjelstad's line in the box score reads 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and two runs batted in. He also crossed the plate twice, accounting for two of the six runs Sherman posted.

The league record lists the ballpark at 1502 Foss St. in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In its own published account of the night, the Baton Rouge club wrote that the game was Sherman's first visit to Pete Goldsby Field, and described the Shadowcats as one of the Texas Collegiate League's new teams.

The two clubs had met twice earlier in the season, both times in Sherman. The league's 2026 schedule page for the Shadowcats lists a 4-0 Sherman win on June 16, followed by a 10-3 Sherman win on June 17. Taken together with the July 18 box score, those schedule entries show Sherman winning all three meetings listed between the clubs this year, and the July 18 game as the first of the three played in Baton Rouge.
