The Sherman Shadowcats beat the Acadiana Cane Cutters 10-7 in a Fourth of July home game Saturday night in Sherman, according to the final score the Cane Cutters organization posted from Sherman on its official Facebook page. The holiday win came in the Shadowcats' first season as a Texas Collegiate League franchise.

The league's published schedule set first pitch for 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, July 4. That listing designated Sherman as the home team and Acadiana as the visitor.
The Shadowcats promoted the game to fans as an Independence Day event. The club's ticketing page for the July 4 date gave the location as Veterans Field in Fairview Park at 1121 W. Taylor Street in Sherman.

The visiting club's account of the result came in a photo posted from Sherman that showed Acadiana with seven runs and Sherman with 10. The post gave the final totals and nothing more. As of Sunday, the public records available for this report did not include an inning-by-inning line or any player statistics, and no attendance figure had been published.
Sherman entered the league this year as part of a two-market expansion. The Texas Collegiate League announced it had added Sherman and Abilene for the 2026 season, and the league said the pair of newcomers brought its membership to eight franchises. Before the additions, the league operated with six.

Sherman Parks and Recreation lists Fairview Park Veteran's Field as the Shadowcats' current home field. The same city facility listing says the diamond previously served Sherman Bearcat baseball.
Minutes kept in Sherman's public meeting archive show city officials discussing a semipro baseball team's interest in using Veterans Field at Fairview Park as early as July 13, 2023, three years before the Shadowcats' first Texas Collegiate League season.
This report is based on the final score published by the Acadiana Cane Cutters, the Texas Collegiate League's schedule and expansion announcement, the Sherman Shadowcats' ticketing page for the game, and facility and meeting records from the City of Sherman.
