Sheriff's office says persons of interest located in Gordonville shooting investigation

The Grayson County Sheriff's Office says it has located the persons of interest in a shooting investigation centered on a residence in the 500 block of Oxford Drive in Gordonville, a Grayson County community just east of the Cooke County line. The office released the information in an update posted to its official Facebook page.

That update named the address and described the case as a shooting investigation. It did not identify a victim, and it did not say anyone had died. As of the office's most recent public statement, no death had been announced.

The sheriff's office first reported activity spread along U.S. Highway 377. Its initial notice described an active law-enforcement incident at several locations on the highway, with deputies working alongside Southmayd police and the Texas Department of Public Safety while other agencies assisted. The later update placed the investigation at the Oxford Drive residence.

The sheriff's office is the agency of record for the case because of how policing is organized in that part of Grayson County. The county's website describes the office as the responding law-enforcement agency for unincorporated areas and for small towns without a police department, and it counts dispatch and 911 operations among the sheriff's duties. A county contact sheet for animal control separately directs after-hours emergencies in Gordonville to the sheriff's office, while incorporated cities such as Whitesboro and Southmayd list municipal contacts instead.

Gordonville sits inside the Whitesboro Fire Department's emergency medical district, according to the department's service page, which lists the community along with the Collinsville, Sadler, Sherwood Shores, Southmayd and Whitesboro fire districts. That page is a description of the department's service area, not an incident log, and it does not record any specific call to Oxford Drive.

The department says it began providing emergency medical service in September 2022 and covers more than 200 square miles, an area that takes in parts or all of seven fire districts and four cities. It has also said it planned round-the-clock fire-protection staffing in 2026.

As of its last public update, the sheriff's office had not identified anyone involved in the case and had not said what led to the shooting. This report will be updated as officials release more information.
