The Sherman Shadowcats opened a two-game Texas Collegiate League series against the Victoria Generals with a 19-5 win at Riverside Stadium, according to a recap posted on Victoria's official website. The Generals held first place in the league when the game was played, and the result reversed a stretch in which Sherman had been shut out by Victoria's pitching earlier in the month.
Victoria's site listed the Generals atop the standings at 14-7, a .667 winning percentage that kept the club ahead of Acadiana. The same recap said the two teams were set to finish the series the following night at the stadium.
The lopsided opener stood apart from how the clubs' earlier June meetings had gone. Victoria's recaps credit the Generals with a 4-0 win over Sherman on June 18 and a 7-0 win on June 19, a result the team described as a franchise-record third straight shutout. A separate recap dated June 20 reported another 7-0 Victoria win over Sherman at Riverside Stadium and said that game stretched the shutout run to three.

Victoria also brings recent postseason credentials into the season. The Generals' official site says the club won the 2024 Texas Collegiate League championship, which the team called its third league title and its first since 2018.
Sherman is competing in its first Texas Collegiate League season. A Generals post on the league's expansion says the Shadowcats joined the circuit for 2026 after two years in the Mid-American League, part of a move that also added a club in Abilene.
The matchup placed the league's standings leader against one of its newest members. For Sherman, the 19-5 final marked a sharp break from the three consecutive shutouts Victoria's recaps had logged against the Shadowcats over the preceding days.
Victoria's account of the opener was the source for both the 19-5 score and the schedule for the second game. A final score for that second contest, and any resulting change to the league standings, were not part of the official material reviewed for this report.
