Sherman Cane’s plush promotion raises money for pet-welfare groups

SHERMAN, Texas - The Raising Cane’s restaurant at 3700 N. Hwy. 75 in Sherman is selling the chain’s 30th Birthday 2026 Plush Puppy, with net proceeds going to local pet-welfare organizations, according to Raising Cane’s. The promotion gives Texoma customers a small way to send money toward animal-care work, but public Raising Cane’s pages reviewed for this report identify the recipient category and do not name ARFhouse as the Sherman store’s beneficiary.

The plush puppy costs $12.99, according to Cane’s Gear. Raising Cane’s says at least $2.63 from each sale will be donated through Sept. 22, 2026, or while supplies last.

The Sherman store is in the Sherman Town Center area north of Gainesville and Cooke County. City of Sherman records identify the address as part of site-plan materials for a 2,913-square-foot Raising Cane’s drive-thru restaurant approved during that development process.

ARFhouse describes itself as a no-kill, care-for-life canine sanctuary on 45 acres in Sherman. The organization says it cares for about 350 dogs at a time, provides spay-neuter and medical care, and works to place dogs in homes when possible. ARFhouse says most of its space is reserved for abandoned and abused dogs that arrive as strays or through court cases after neglect or abuse seizures.

Raising Cane’s says the Plush Puppy Program supports pet welfare groups, shelters, dog parks and rescues, and says the program has donated more than $9 million over time. The company says pet welfare is one of its community focus areas, tied to its yellow Labrador namesake and support for no-kill rescues, shelters and other pet organizations.

The anniversary item also ties back to the chain’s origin story. Raising Cane’s says it opened on Aug. 28, 1996, and that founder Todd Graves named the restaurant after his Labrador Retriever, Raising Cane.

Animal welfare work is not limited to Sherman. Gainesville says Noah’s Ark Animal Shelter is responsible for the care and custody of animals impounded in the city. Noah’s Ark says it serves Gainesville and Cooke County, operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and works with unwanted, abandoned and abused animals.

The wider shelter picture remains strained. Shelter Animals Count estimated that 5.8 million cats and dogs entered U.S. shelters and rescues in 2025, with stray animals making up most intakes. Best Friends Animal Society said Texas’ 2025 shelter save rate trailed the national rate, while the number of dogs and cats killed in Texas shelters declined from the prior year.
