Sherman contractor Webb's marks 40 years in business

Webb's Electric, Heating & Air, a Sherman contractor that lists Cooke County in its service area, says it is celebrating 40 years in business. The company dates its founding to 1986, which makes 2026 its anniversary year.

According to the company's website, the business started as a one-person operation and now has almost 30 employees. The site names Webb and Marty Sanderson as owners and describes the four decades as service to Grayson County and surrounding North Central Texas communities. Webb's operates from 214 East Mulberry Street in Sherman. The profile it wrote for Nextdoor lists Cooke, Grayson, Fannin and Collin counties as the area it covers. The City of Sherman's published contractor list carries the company as a mechanical contractor under credential number 24-000131.

Webb's is also looking for more hands. Its employment page advertises openings for HVAC technicians and installers, electricians, journeymen and apprentices. The listed benefits include retirement, paid leave and company payment of half of group health-insurance premiums.

Cooke County residents interested in the trade can train for it in Gainesville. North Central Texas College offers HVAC instruction at its Gainesville campus, with a basic certificate designed for 16 weeks, a one-year certificate and a two-year associate degree.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects employment of HVAC mechanics and installers to grow 11% from 2025 to 2035, compared with 3% for all occupations. Its May 2025 figures put the national median pay for the trade at $61,010 a year, against $50,980 for all occupations. Those are national numbers and do not reflect Webb's wages.

On its employment page, Webb's describes itself as a Best of Texoma team. The page gives no award year, category or placement. Nextdoor separately lists the company as a Neighborhood Favorite in Denison's Thompson Heights neighborhood and records a 2022 win, a different recognition.

Webb's anniversary statement gives no month or date for a celebration. The United States marked its 250th anniversary on July 4, 2026, according to America250.

Reynolds Electric Heating & Air Conditioning Service, another contractor in the region, says on its website that it has served Texoma since 1974 and covers Cooke, Grayson, Collin and Fannin counties. Reynolds reports Best of Texoma recognition for Best Electricians and Best in HVAC in 2018 and 2019.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration reports that air conditioning was in about 89% of U.S. homes in 2020, up from 57% in 1980. Central systems rose from 27% to 67% over the same span. Air conditioning accounted for about 19% of residential electricity use in 2020, according to the agency's estimate.
