Sherman's first-year Texas Collegiate League club lost its fourth game in a row Friday, July 10, with the Shadowcats falling 3-1 to Brazos Valley, according to Texas League Stats. For Gainesville and Cooke County readers following North Texas summer baseball, the result extended a losing streak for the Sherman team that joined the league this season.
The Texas League Stats team page shows the four-game skid has come entirely against Brazos Valley. Sherman lost 15-6 on July 7, 10-3 on July 8, 17-15 on July 9 and 3-1 on July 10.
The lower score on July 10 did not end the run of losses. The team page identifies July 7 through July 10 as four straight defeats, and each listing names Brazos Valley as the opponent.
The official July 10 box score lists John Langehennig as Sherman's pitcher for the first seven innings. During that span, Brazos Valley scored three runs on five hits before Brodie Andrews entered for Sherman in the eighth inning, according to the box score.
The official play-by-play lists Langehennig with five strikeouts and three walks before the pitching change. Those records show Sherman kept Brazos Valley to three runs Friday after allowing double-digit scoring totals in each of the previous three games in the skid.
The four-game stretch began July 7 with Brazos Valley's 15-6 win over Sherman. The next two games were higher-scoring losses for the Shadowcats, first 10-3 on July 8 and then 17-15 on July 9, according to the Texas League Stats team page.
Sherman's current league status is new. A Texas Collegiate League announcement said Sherman and Abilene were added for the 2026 season, expanding the league to eight franchises.
The matchup paired Sherman's first-year club with a Brazos Valley organization whose own team history dates its launch to 2006. The Bombers' official history says the franchise began with an Aug. 25, 2006, press conference in downtown Bryan.
