Sherman High School Class of 2026 earned $5.5 million in scholarships, Sherman ISD reports

Sherman High School's Class of 2026 graduated 558 students who earned a combined $5.5 million in scholarships, according to Sherman Independent School District's official graduation announcement.

Sherman ISD posted the totals to its online newsroom as part of its coverage of this year's graduating class, offering a snapshot of how the seniors fared by the district's own measures. The district reported the $5.5 million as a single class-wide figure and did not break it into individual awards, so the announcement describes the graduating class as a group rather than naming any one scholarship recipient or the amount of any one student's award.

The announcement also measured what the class achieved on top of the diploma. More than 270 graduates left Sherman High School with an industry-based certification, the district said, a count approaching half of the 558-member class. Those certifications are earned through career and technical education coursework and indicate that a student has met a recognized standard in a technical or career field.

College credit ran through the class as well. Sherman ISD reported that close to 150 graduates finished high school with college coursework already posted to their transcripts, totaling 1,554 credit hours across that group, or roughly a quarter of the class. Credit earned before graduation can shorten the time and lower the cost of completing a college degree afterward.

Ten students reached further still, according to the district. Each of the ten completed an associate degree from Grayson College during the same period in which they earned their Sherman High School diploma, finishing a two-year college credential and a high school diploma together.

In a separate newsroom post, Sherman ISD recognized the top ten graduates of the Class of 2026 and listed where each planned to continue their education. The University of Texas at Dallas appeared among the colleges the district named for those top-ranked seniors. That post identified the top ten graduates individually and paired each with a planned destination.

Both the class totals and the top ten recognitions come from Sherman ISD's own published posts. The district has not released a student-by-student accounting of the $5.5 million in scholarships, and the figures it reported describe the graduating class collectively rather than any individual student's award.
