Sherman parks calendar shows no July 3 Lights on the Lake; Gainesville lists a holiday fireworks event

The department's general description and its dated calendar do not line up for this July. Pecan Grove Park-West is the site Sherman Parks names as the home of the annual show, and it says the park draws thousands of people each year. The park opened in July 2010, and its amphitheater seats as many as 2,000 on the lawn, according to the facility page. The calendar covers the full month, yet it carries no entry for July 3.

The only first-party schedule found listing Collective Soul over the holiday weekend places the band in Houston, not Sherman. Freedom Over Texas is the City of Houston's official Independence Day celebration, and its official page lists the group as a supporting act on Saturday, July 4, ahead of the event's fireworks finale. Sherman Parks' calendar does not name Collective Soul for July 3, and neither do the city's budget records.

Those budget records add nothing about a July 3 program. The Sherman City Council adopted its fiscal year 2026 budget on September 2, 2025, with roughly $187.2 million in appropriations, according to the city budget page. That document sets the city's spending plan for the year, and it lists no Lights on the Lake date and no performer booking for the holiday.
