Sherman shop sends Sunshine Tea proceeds to Tumlinson family

Sippin Social says money from every Sunshine Tea sold at its Sherman shop goes to the family of Makynna "Sunshine" Tumlinson, a Tom Bean High School student who died in June. The drink shop announced the campaign, which it calls the Sunshine Fundraiser, on its own Facebook page, saying it was launched in memory of Tumlinson.

A second post from the business told customers the tea had gone on sale and restated the terms: proceeds from each Sunshine Tea are donated to support the Tumlinson family. Those posts are the shop's own account of how the campaign works. Sippin Social's page lists the storefront at 2007 W. Taylor St., Suite 300, in Sherman.

An obituary published by Waldo Funeral Home gives Makynna Eden Tumlinson's date of death as June 3, 2026. The obituary says she was also known as Sunshine and identifies her as the daughter of Tommy and Stephanie Tumlinson of Sherman.

Tom Bean High School named Tumlinson as its student in a public post after her death. The school called the loss tragic and asked the community to support her family. The campaign at the drink shop is Sippin Social's own, announced and described on the business's page.

Both the school and the shop are outside Cooke County. The National Center for Education Statistics lists Tom Bean High School in Grayson County, and Sippin Social's own listing places its storefront in Sherman.

The first regular Tom Bean ISD board agenda listed after Tumlinson's death covers routine district business. That agenda, posted through BoardBook, includes district reports and consent items, with employee compensation also on the list. No item carrying Tumlinson's name appears on the public agenda, which on its own does not establish what trustees discussed.

A similar fundraiser has run in nearby Denison. High-Level Nutrition, a nutrition shop there, posted that all profits from a fundraiser day would be donated to a family. That post is separate from the Sunshine Fundraiser, and the two describe different arrangements: the Denison shop wrote about all profits from a single day, while Sippin Social has written about proceeds from one drink.
