TxDOT's public notice for the US-75/US-82 interchange in Sherman covered a past frontage-road closure scheduled for Aug. 19-21, 2023, according to the agency's Paris District. The notice said the northbound and southbound US-75 frontage roads were set to close where they meet the eastbound and westbound US-82 frontage roads beginning at 2 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023. TxDOT said the intersections were expected to reopen to through traffic before 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21, 2023.
TxDOT did not describe the work as a full shutdown of the US-75 or US-82 main lanes. The agency's notice dealt with frontage-road through movements at the interchange. During the closure window, drivers using the affected US-75 and US-82 frontage roads were directed to turn right and follow marked detours.
The stated construction reason was temporary pavement work. TxDOT said crews needed to put down pavement connecting the existing roadway surface with rebuilt sections of the US-75 and US-82 frontage roads.
The agency listed detours for drivers moving from westbound US-82 to southbound US-75, eastbound US-82 to northbound US-75, northbound US-75 to westbound US-82 and southbound US-75 to eastbound US-82. TxDOT's public page also included detour video links for those movements.
TxDOT asked drivers in the work area to watch for crews, expect delays and plan travel before the closure period. The agency said construction work and any related temporary lane closures could change because of weather or other unexpected conditions.
The district listing is separate local context for Cooke County readers. TxDOT's local news page places Grayson County, where Sherman is located, in the Paris District. The same page places Cooke County, where Gainesville is located, in the Wichita Falls District.
