Whitesboro native Bradi Gallaway signs with Texas Tech softball

Texas Tech's athletics department announced on June 18, 2026, that it had signed Bradi Gallaway, a Whitesboro native, following her freshman season at Louisiana Tech. The signing, confirmed in the school's official announcement, makes Texas Tech the second college program of Gallaway's career. She joins the program after a year in which she started all 56 of Louisiana Tech's games as a freshman.

Texas Tech identified Gallaway as an infielder and said she arrived through the NCAA transfer portal, the system that lets college athletes register a move to another school. The department listed her among its portal additions, naming her alongside Jayden Heavener and Moriah Polar. Texas Tech described the three as part of the same incoming portal class.

The move keeps Gallaway in college softball and brings her to a program in Texas after a single season at Louisiana Tech. She enrolled at Louisiana Tech for the 2026 season and changed schools after her freshman year, according to Texas Tech's announcement, which serves as the public record of the transfer.

Gallaway was an everyday player for Louisiana Tech in 2026. The program's official statistics for the season credit her with a start in all 56 of the team's games. Those same records list a .317 batting average, along with 12 doubles, 11 home runs and 47 runs batted in. The home runs and runs batted in came across the 56 games she started.

Her place in the lineup was set from the season's first game. Louisiana Tech's box score from the team's Feb. 6, 2026, opener listed Gallaway as the starting shortstop and identified her as a freshman at the time. She opened that season more than four months before Texas Tech announced the signing in June.

Gallaway reached the Division I level out of Whitesboro High School. According to her Louisiana Tech player biography, she earned Texas Girls Coaches Association All-State honors four times during her years there.

The same biography records a family connection to her first program. It says her sister, Preslee, played for Louisiana Tech from 2016 through 2019, several seasons before Bradi enrolled there.

Whitesboro's recorded history reaches back to Cooke County and its seat at Gainesville. The city of Whitesboro's official history notes that in 1865, Company D, a militia unit commanded by Captain A.B. White, was headquartered in Gainesville, the seat of Cooke County.
