Proof of pregnancy is required for Medicaid or CHIP Perinatal applicants. Citizenship or qualified-immigration documentation is required where applicable.
Eligibility
Eligibility is based on household size and income. SNAP uses Texas's Broad-Based Categorical Eligibility, with gross income generally up to 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (single-person household monthly limit approximately $2,152; add roughly $757 per additional household member); net income must be at or below 100% FPL after deductions. Households with members age 60+ or receiving SSI are exempt from the gross income test. TANF requires low income, few assets, and a child under 18 living in the home. Medicaid and CHIP Perinatal require pregnancy or children and meeting program-specific income rules.
