No verified final for Callisburg's scheduled game at Tioga

Callisburg ISD's calendar set the varsity matchup at Tioga High School for Friday at 7 p.m. and lists no final score. A claimed 26–6 Tioga win could not be verified against a primary record. Tioga ISD marked the evening as Military/First Responder Night.

Callisburg's varsity football team was scheduled to play at Tioga High School on Friday, Sept. 11, with kickoff set for 7 p.m., according to Callisburg ISD's official calendar. The calendar fixes the date, the hour and the site. It carries no final score, and a claimed 26–6 Tioga victory remains unverified against a primary source of record.

Tioga ISD listed the same game and set the evening aside as Military/First Responder Night at Tioga High School. Absent a primary record, the 26–6 figure stands as a claim, and this report does not assert it as the result.

The scheduled meeting was a nondistrict matchup. UIL football assignments for 2026 through 2028 place Tioga in Class 2A Division I, District 6 and Callisburg in Class 3A Division II, District 7. Neither school appears on the other's district list for the cycle. The league's realignment ranking sheet puts the two about 90 students apart in enrollment, with Callisburg the larger.

UIL playoff rules advance the top four teams from each district in both divisions of Classes 2A through 5A. Both districts fall inside that range, which makes district placement the qualification measure for Tioga and Callisburg alike.

The 2026 assignments changed the company both schools keep. Tioga's district now includes Alvord, Chico, Muenster, Nocona and Olney. The 2024–26 alignment had grouped the Bulldogs with Alvord, Nocona, Tom Bean, Trenton, Whitewright and Wolfe City, so Alvord and Nocona are the only opponents carried over from one list to the other.

Callisburg's district holds more of its former shape. Bells, Blue Ridge, Howe, Leonard and S&S Consolidated appear on both the 2024–26 alignment and the new one. Gunter no longer sits among the Wildcats' district opponents, and Valley View, listed in District 6 for the prior two-year cycle, has joined them.

Participation figures for the sport come from the National Federation of State High School Associations, which reported about 14,300 schools sponsoring 11-player football in 2024, the second-highest total in the history of its survey. The federation separately found that boys' participation in the 11-player game rose in three of the four years through 2024–25.

Tioga lost 42–20 to Hamilton in the 2025 playoffs, according to Hamilton's official UIL state-tournament team record.
